On the occasion of the Frankfurt Book Fair, which opens today, Ubisoft and his publishing house, The Two Thrones, are proud to announce that a new draft comics Assassin's Creed is being prepared . The story, in two volumes, will last stroke the atomic bomb during World War II and will stage a new hero Assassin that will influence the course of history in 1943. The first volume is expected to fall, 2016. After a first series of comics Assassin's Creed sold more than 170,000 copies in France and adapted in 10 languages, this second project will transport you to a new historical period, as is the DNA of the Assassin's Creed brand. Are you ready for this new tour?
The comic will be designed by two figures of comics: the writer William Dorison and artist Jean-Baptiste Hostache. Two experienced writers, video game enthusiasts!
With its rich experience in animation, series and feature film, Jean-Baptiste Hostache notably signed drawing of the Franco-Belgian series Clockwerx or Snow Foundation, the prequel comics Snow. Then he met Guillaume Dorison led him to create Elyum, a small studio dedicated to comics, drawing on the working methods of audiovisual production, including the animation.
Guillaume Dorison has meanwhile started his career by launching several magazines to video games, before choosing the path of manga, where he is especially honored in 2010 by the Animeland Award for Best French manga, for his work on the Omega Complex series. This, like Crusades, an international success. His meeting with Jean-Baptiste Hostache then allows him to publish his first Franco-Belgian comics (Clockwerx, Volume 2), before working on numerous series, including the adaptations of video games Devil May Cry and Lost Planet.

Assassin's Creed Movie Behind The Scenes trailer revealed, showing various never-before-seen scenes from the highly anticipated movie, key characters such as Alan Rikkin, Sofia Rikkin, and more and remarkable events and moments like the Bleeding Effect.

Here are the answers to all the questions that the Assassin's Creed: Identity team have responded to, for this week from the #AskAbstergo Q&A, as revealed on their official Facebook page:
Q: How can I get more outfits?
A: You can get more outfits by hitting certain level milestones, buying with earned tokens in the Heroic Shop, buying with real money in the regular Shop and by completing certain class achievements.
Q: Can I manually adjust graphic settings?
A: Sorry, this won't happen. Our app is designed to adapt itself to the performance of the different devices and will always give you the best balance between graphical quality and playability.
Q: Will you add music from the soundtrack in the background while playing missions?
A: Playing music in the background during gameplay would vastly influence the overall atmosphere of the game and is not something that we think makes any sense.
Q: Will there be a storyline in the next update?
A: No, the next update will focus on a more competitive approach - stay tuned for further details in the near future.
Q: When will there be playable female assassins?
A: Unfortunately this will not happen. We've looked into adding a female model, however due to technical restrictions on mobile platforms, we were forced to only go for one choice.
Q: Can the amount of coins given per mission be increased because it's taking too long to get the ones needed?
A: We want to keep the game interesting for a longer period of time so we really think that the awards the missions give are balanced well. A bit of grinding is the meat of every RPG :D

ABSTERGO MORE REAL THAN LIFE
The first steps on set the tone: icy atmosphere based on large uniform wall metallic gray and crossed from time to time by neon lights reproducing the Abstergo Industries logo ... "The places were to have a look that is both impersonal and authoritarian , said the Production Designer Andy Nichols. We ensured for example that there is almost no windows. The only room with a window are the guest room where Lara and the office of Dr. Rikkin lodge. Of course, in their cells, prisoners have a skylight that brings natural light but there is no vis-à-vis. "
The impression of being in a kind of large hi-tech jail not conducive to human relationships is therefore obvious. Although some plants are released into the environment and if a handful of plants rears its leaves in a small greenhouse. Surprise, approaching close and touching one of these imposing walls in metallic appearance, it is possible to discover that this is actually ... painted wood. The illusion is perfect. it is clear that the company Abstergo shown in the film is very similar aesthetically to that of the first two games Assassin's Creed. The overall look of the place, with its semi-futuristic architecture and metallic gray, appears as the place that synthesizes the concepts of past and future.
THE OTHER ASSASSINS
Throughout the adventure, Callum Lynch / Aguilar will be required to meet other Assassins evolving in the 15th century. Starting with Moussa (Michael Kenneth Williams), an Assassin from the Caribbean nicknamed "The Trickster" that uses voodoo and black magic to shoot down targets. Also on the cast and Emir Ojeda. The first, performed by Matias Varela noticed in the excellent Easy Money, is an assassin from the Middle East. While the second, played by Hovik Keuchkerian, is a high-flying Assassin also called "The Mirror". And then there is of course the Assassin Maria (Ariane Labed) Aguilar partner who knows how to be very clever, especially with its retractable blades and throwing knives. Last but not least: the teenager Lara (Octavia Selena Alexandru) who grew up in Abstergo and knows all the secrets of the company. Able to draw the portrait of the other prisoners, it remains the favorite of Dr. Rikkin. The girl grew up to become a member of the Order of the Templars, but she gradually discovers that she has the soul of an Assassin.
FILMING
The team of Assassin's Creed moved to Malta from 1 August 2015 for a period of four weeks. Thus, most of the scenes of the past, about the 15th century and the Spanish Inquisition are shot on site. Besides, a terrible historical figure is included in the film: that of Torquemada inquisitor who will crack down hard in particular between 1483 and 1498. Roughly the name of religion and strict principles to follow, it does not hesitate to punish with a vengeance - and often death - those committing alleged sins (fornication, blasphemy ...) of the punishment of scenes from the film face even a bonfire during which a person is convicted and burned. at the stake. "Burning people at the stake, that's something very cinematic!" Will hasten to specify the producer Patrick Crowley, smiling.
RATING Caution, do not however expect to gory or outrageous outbursts since the film is planned to be classified PG-13 in the US, roughly the French equivalent of "Not suitable for under 12 years." It is also in Malta were filmed most scenes with action taking place in the 15th century. A deliberate choice on the part of the director Justin Kurzel: "I could turn it all into a parking lot and then add a bunch of digital effects. But the vast majority of the fighting is done by the actors accompanied by a real stunt team. I thought it was much more interesting to feel the public that it was possible that the killers in real life could jump between buildings. "
FRAME RATE
"Most of the scenes shot in Malta were at 90 frames per second instead of the usual 24. If you want to slow motion, you can count on three times as much information on the screen. This gives us more flexibility with the camera movements." - Patrick Crowley, producer of Assassin's Creed.
The result actually looks spectacular as evidenced for example Leap of Faith insight into the trailer and made authentically with a height of around 35 meters high. Or the scene of action recently shown to the press that proves quite impressive. Excluding obviously some special effects synthesis adding portions still not finalized sets and cables - digitally erased later - supporting players jumping over the void between two buildings. Specifically, this sequence located in the 15th century shows a chase between one side of the Templars and the other duo Maria / Aguilar. The latter connects the fatal blows to the enemy using various weapons (retractable blades, bows) and eventually flee from the rooftops. No wonder that the scene is spectacular visual shows, since it is one of the best specialists in the world of parkour and tumbling, Damien Walters, who is the stunt coordinator on the film.
PROPS AND WEAPONS
"Weapons of Assassin's Creed were familiar to me because I had already played all Assassin's Creed games before working on the film," admits Tim well. Developed in close collaboration with the team in charge of costumes, so that they can perfectly fit the outfits worn by the actors, the weapons represented a real challenge for the chief armourer. "By including those serving as decorations, said Tim, we had probably created between 2000 and 3000 weapons. "
Note also that 80% of the weapons of the film are new vis-à-vis the games, much of which was inspired by authentic weapons stored in the London Museum The Wallace Collection. Obviously, the remaining 20% are found directly from games, puisqu'Aguilar well possess a retractable blade to the wrist, throwing knives or flash bombs, and smoke hung on the belt. Also confirmed crossbow Ezio Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, the arc of Connor from Assassin's Creed III, the sword of Shao Jun, Chinese assassin in Assassin's Creed Chronicles China, or the sword of the assassin apprentice / chef voodoo Baptist ( later became Templar), resulting from Assassin's Creed III Liberation. Not to mention the mortar Hung from the DLC Dead Kings Assassin's Creed Unity which wants the lethal combination between an ax and a mortar. Please note, most of these special weapons should be on the screen as Easter Eggs, friendly winks to fans of the saga.
Finally, among the items made in the workshop, it was possible to see a scourge and gloves with metal claws - the Freddy Krueger - used to climb walls. And there was also modernized versions of crossbows and swords used in modern times by some Templars. It is probable that one of them is taken by MacGohan, the beefy right arm of Dr. Rikkin played by French actor Denis Ménochet (the Spotless series).

An article by ScreenRant confirms that the Apple of Eden and the First Civilization (The Isu) will be part of the upcoming Assassin's Creed movie!
"One thing we can confirm is that an Apple of Eden will be in the movie, and may play a prominent role. During a visit to the set of Assassin’s Creed, production designer Andy Nicholson told us that the Apple is one of the most obvious elements from the games that fans will notice, and there is further evidence that it may play a significant role in the movie’s plot."
For those unfamiliar with the games, the Apples of Eden are ancient artifacts, created by an extinct race of highly advanced beings that later came to be recognized as gods. Whoever holds an Apple can use it to wield powerful and potentially terrible influence; according to the game lore, historical figures who have possessed an Apple include Napoleon Bonaparte, Elizabeth I, Mahatma Gandhi, Adolf Hitler, Nikola Tesla and Harry Houdini.
Much of the centuries-old conflict between the Assassins and Templars has been a power struggle for control of these artifacts, so it makes sense that Abstergo would want to access Cal’s genetic memory as a means of finding an Apple. According to Nicholson, the Apple is seen in at least one place in the movie: an Assassin den, which is a castle in Spain. “It’s a place that’s important to [the Assassins],” Nicholson said. “With a couple of ancient artifacts in the middle of it which just speak of the early First Civilization.” The location is apparently used in the movie’s opening sequence, as part of Cal’s first regression, but the artifacts themselves could well crop up at other points in the movie.
This is further evidenced by the use of apple imagery in the film. ComingSoon attended a screening of some footage from the movie, including a scene in which Cal is “executed” and the priest reads Robert Frost’s poem “After Apple Picking”. Kurzel explained that, “It was actually Michael who found the poem… Hidden in that poem was ‘protect the apple’. ‘Protect the artifact’. We loved the ambiguity of it and the sort of codedness of it.” And if that was too subtle, the footage also showed that upon first waking in the Abstergo facility, Cal comes across an arboretum (pictured above) and picks an apple from an apple tree.

“My character, he’s in this prison, whatever this place we call it. His name is Moussa. He is going to… When he becomes an Assassin, he’s going to channel his ancestor, which is a voodoo poisoner who has been dead for about 200 years. His name is Baptiste.”

A stunning new Assassin's Creed movie poster has just been revealed, showing Aguilar (played by Michael Fassbender) perching on top of a viewpoint, observing the city of Seville in 1491.
It must be noted that upon focusing on his left hand, his ring finger is missing, just like Altair, implying that a similar ritual to remove the ring finger upon joining the Creed to facilitate using the hidden blade was used in Spain, at the time, just like in Masyaf, at the time.

Assassin's Creed: Identity is now available on Android devices, featuring a whole new story campaign mode, Forli, as well as missions with Ezio and Machiavelli and a new weapon "Sword of Altair" and many more features. 5 days ago, The Codex revealed that the Assassin's Creed movie will be split into 65% in modern day and 35% in regression (historical segment). Here, Michael Fassbender will explain to Gamespot why the movie was split that way:
There are certain things that we absolutely want to respect in the game," he said. "But we also want to bring new elements to the game [...] This isn't a video game that we're making. We're trying to make a cinematic experience, so there are new things that we have to introduce."

Den Of Geek's visit to the Assassin's Creed Movie set has revealed more details about the Assassin's Creed movie plot and its segments:
- The Templars' quest to find the ancient artifact, presumably the Apple of Eden remained up until the 80s, when Callum Lynch's mother was found murdered in her own house.
- The capital of Malta, Valetta, was used to recreate Seville of 1491
- Callum Lynch will go through 3 regression episodes, exploring the life of Aguilar in 1491
- Den of Geek managed to notice a prop in the armory that might give a hint about how the 3rd act of the movie will begin, a Hidden Blade made from a smartphone, a watch, a shoe and a pen.
- Callum Lynch's prison cell is made of glass and concrete, with a twin bed. According to producer Patrick Crowley, Cal will be experiencing the bleeding effect, there.
- Cal's father is an Assassin, and he killed his wife, who's also an Assassin, out of love, to prevent Abstergo from taking her and using her blood, to find the secrets in her DNA.
- The Abstergo building is connected by other passageways and atriums is a vast common room where Abstergo’s patients/test subjects will spend the majority of their time. In the center of the room, there are four stainless steel tables with connected and equally spotless benches. Each one features a childhood game that has been appropriately dehumanized.
- The room lacks colors and the only color comes from one wall that is lined by a garden. With a raised floor carved out of wood, one imagines that Abstergo’s patients might actually find solace in the greenery, although the irony that most of the plants are still kept in metallic cages could not be lost on them"
Sofia Rikkin, played by Marion Cotillard wants to incorporate Cal into her study. Her goal is to cure violence by tracing its origins through the Animus. She’ll go all the way back to Adam and Eve, if she has to in order to discover the origins of hostility in mankind's behavior.
- Michael K. Williams’ character, Moussa, has been at Abstergo for years before Cal arrived. Abstergo used him to relive the memories of his ancestor, Baptiste, who lived around 200 years ago.
- Directly across from the garden in the Abstergo building is a control center where Abstergo scientists constantly monitor their patients/test subjects and see what they do when they aren’t in the Animus.
- “It’s not a secret, [the patients] have powers,” Williams told the source during an interview. “So, they know Moussa plays with magic and things like that. And they encourage that we do these things, so they can cipher it out of our brains into the things they stick into the back of our heads. So, they give us little safe havens, the environment is to play with our gifts.”
- Jeremy Irons, on the day the Den Of Geek was on set, was shooting a scene where Alan Rikkin, the character he plays was addressing an assembled G7 summit.
- The Abstergo branch shown in the trailer is located in Madrid, Spain. As seen on the business cards of Alan Rikkin, revealed few months back.
May 12th, 2016
More information about the Assassin's Creed plot has been revelaed:
Jeremy Irons as Alan Rikkin lurks in the background like a giant watchful Templar crow as his daughter Sophia (Marion Cotillard) wakes Lynch up in Abstergo convincing him that she’s there to help.
Sophia genuinely thinks she’s doing good in Abstergo instead of just planning to take over the world. “She has this ideology which is a very strong desire to understand violence,” says Cotillard. “Everything in her life is dedicated to finding this, but she’ll discover that her father has another agenda.”
Following the general theme of each of the games, her dear old Templar pa wants to find what is only referred to as ‘the Artefact.’
Given that Aguilar was the last Assassin to have his hands on this mystical tech back in the Spanish Inquisition when the Templars originally wanted it, Callum is the key to finding exactly where it’s hidden. Abstergo desires complete control, the opposite of the Assassins quest for freedom and it’s going to be interesting to see what Rikken has in store.
The first fifteen minutes also shines light on the way Abstergo works in the 21st century.
Lynch isn’t the only Assassin in there and this collection of the Brotherhood potentially won’t end too well for the modern day Templars.
The Wire’s Michael Kenneth Williams takes on the role of Moussa, the first Assassin Lynch meets in a bizarre garden recreation within the heavily guarded walls of the Abstergo complex. What I see of Moussa isn’t much - he whispers to Lynch to jump out of the building while he still can - but Williams has revealed a little more.

During a recent set visit, GameSpot talked to Fassbender and Kurzel, as well as Jean-Julien Baronnet, former head of Ubisoft Pictures, to discuss a whole range of subjects, including how they aim to make Assassin's Creed a distinct moviegoing experience, how the picture differs from the games, and the challenge of living up to fan expectations.
GameSpot: What's so attractive about the Assassin's Creed franchise that will make compelling viewing for movie audiences?
Justin Kurzel: I think the games are really cinematic anyway. You can just look at that in terms of the gameplay but also the trailers. It's not a superhero kind of game, it's real people doing extraordinary things. Our story is an origin story, a man in the present day discovering he's an Assassin. That whole idea of memory travel and being able to be informed as to who you are through your DNA is really compelling stuff. Any film would be lucky to have that sort of storyline. It's a very rich world and all the moments of history that you go back to in the game are beautifully recreated. It's almost like doing a period piece with this really interesting conceptual world in the present day in terms of the Animus and so forth. It's just really rich ground.
Video game movies before it have poisoned the well somewhat. Do you feel the movie has an uphill battle in terms of perception or do you think it could break through in the way Marvel has with its superhero films?
Kurzel: I think it's the big challenge. How do you make something that exists as a game as a 120-minute story and also set up the storylines and characters? Assassin's Creed is very complex in terms of the Animus, the present-day world, and how that relates to the period world. You're having to invent a story to take all those different elements of the game and also stay faithful to what fans expect. It is a really big challenge.
At the same time, I've always approached this as a film. I respect the game and have spent a lot of time with the game but at a certain point you have to start looking at this as a film and how it works as one.
I'm not sure [about perception], I haven't been thinking about it. I just did Macbeth and that's been done a thousand times. It has massive baggage like anything else, so I think you have to just embrace it. You have to just go with it.
There's something about Assassin's Creed that feels very real and different from other games. That makes it feel more tangible as a piece of cinema.
Michael, video game movie adaptations don't have the best reputation. What was it about Assassin's Creed that set it apart and drew you to it, considering it could be seen as risky?
Michael Fassbender: It's not really risky, considering somebody has got to do it right once. We figured the odds are stacked in our favour [Laughs].
It was just that time that I sat down with Ubisoft and they started to explain it to me. There's a lot of action-adventure films out there at the moment, but what was really unique about this one, what elevated it above other action-adventure fantasy films was the idea of DNA memories. It seems like a very plausible scientific theory, that we carry around in us the knowledge of our ancestors. That's how we know not to eat that berry, but eat this one. Certain things like when you enter a room and it's a dangerous one, the temperature drops and you feel something physically. That comes from, perhaps, knowledge from ancestors that's in our DNA. I thought that was really something that would take the audience on a more immersive journey.
It's kind of like The Matrix … setting something up outside of the fantasy world for the audience to believe in and go, "Wow I really do think that's true, we call it instinct but it's essentially in our DNA from our ancestors." That for me really elevated it. And then I love the Templar versus Assassin battle that has been going on since the beginning of time. The idea of Adam and Eve being the first Assassins, that's pretty cool.
This isn't Star Wars, there isn't a dark side and light side. We have very ambiguous morals going on. It's a very grey world where both sides are contradictory of their belief systems. They have to bend them at certain times, skew them a little bit. I like that. I always think it's more interesting when you've got a grey area as opposed to black and white.
How do you find the balance between realism and representing the game elements?
Kurzel: There are moments, like doing a leap of faith, that are real. There are great stories to those. Damien Walters is one of the best freefallers in the world so why not shoot it instead of having an animated character? I think that's what is so great about the game; it's human endeavour and not a super power. Then there are moments, like another leap of faith, which is much more in keeping with some of the style choices in the game. I think it's a balance between the two. We're putting cameras on the knife blades, so you can see-
[At this point Justin runs off to watch Damien leap off a platform suspended over 100 feet in the air and freefall, with no bungee cords or safety harnesses, into an inflatable landing pad.]
...Yeah, so, why would you want to do it digitally when you can do it for real? It's a guy up there for the first time, it's the highest jump he's ever done. What's in the film is the extra bit of human risk and endeavour that makes it possible to be an assassin. That's what we're trying to do. All the stunts are being done on camera by some of the best stunt guys in the world.

The film opens in 1988 as we soar over a desert area (I believe New Mexico) in the daylight, flying along with a bird in the sky (effects were unfinished here, but you get the idea) as The Black Angels "Young Men Dead" plays loudly. We hone in on a young boy, Cal (Fassbender's character) who pulls a hoodie over his head and rides his bike towards a small desert town. He gets to his home in the dusty town and walks in the door calling to his mom. A woman is seated at the kitchen table, eyes wide open and unmoving. Blood pours down from her chest to her arms and legs. In her left hand she clutches a necklace with Creed symbology on it, blood dripping from it as well.
Cal turns and sees a man in a green hood, holding what appears to be a version of the wrist blade, again with blood dripping from it. Cal calls this man "Dad" and his Dad addresses him as Cal. Cal's father approaches him slowly and menacingly, obviously determined (possessed?). As he gets closer to Cal, presumably to kill him, he says "Your blood is not your own." Then, sirens are heard and cop cars begin pulling up. Cal makes a run for it as the police storm in to capture his father. We see Cal on the roof of the house, running away, jumping in slow motion from rooftop to rooftop, a tease of things to come.
CUT TO: Present Day. We're now in a prison. The grown-up Cal (Michael Fassbender) is in his cell, making a pencil drawing. His wall is adorned with them, ranging from violent to eerie images, as if transcribing nightmares. A priest talks to one of the guards who says that's all Cal does is make drawings. It's revealed that Cal killed a man in a bar with his bare hands, landing him in prison and on death row. The priest attempts to talk to Cal just before his execution, in which he reads from Robert Frost's poem "After Apple-Picking".
We are then taken to the execution chamber. Fassbender's Cal seems unapologetic and as they prepare him to be killed he's asked if he has any last words. He says, "Yes, tell my father I'll see him in hell." At this point he is injected and we see a series of quick-cut images, which tease all manner of timeframes.
CUT TO: Abstergo. Fassbender's Cal opens his eyes and is in a white-colored room. In front of him is Marion Cotillard's Dr. Sophia Rikkin. She addresses Cal and informs him that he is dead. Not literally, but that his faked execution has rendered him no longer of the known living world. She tells him that he is at Abstergo and that he is her patient. Cal gets up and tries to run away, but is still dazed from the faux execution drugs. Rikkin says to let him go as we see there are guards stationed throughout the area. Abstergo has a futuristic, yet organic feel to it; steel, wood, and mortar all mixed together to create a kind of timeless atmosphere.
The Abstergo symbol is seen on the walls, lit up in lights. We see numerous patients wandering around, almost like zombies. Fassbender stumbles at some point and falls. A woman patient helps him and says the same words his father said to him back in '88: "Your blood is not your own." Cal gets back up and keeps going. He stumbles into a garden area where we see Michael K. Williams character and a few others. Cal makes it to a window area and stands on the edge where it's open. Williams starts to talk to him, almost beckoning him to jump and Rikkin arrives to talk him back. We see a wide reveal of the Abstergo facility, built into what appears to be a mountain, just in front of a city. Before Cal can do anything more he's shot by a tranquilizer dart and falls to the ground.
CUT TO: Scene from the past. Cal's ancestor, Aguilar, is seen in a flashback sequence (or rather, an Animus flashback), where he's dressed in the darker unifrom and with tattoos on his face. He is accompanied by a female assassin (Ariane Labed) as they attempt to escape from a group of men trying to kill them in the time of the Spanish Inquisition. They fight through a series of buildings, running, jumping, fighting, using bow & arrow (with a really cool POV shot from it), sword, or hand-to-hand.
It's fast and frenetic, and cuts back to the present day as it moves along, where Cal is seen, attached to the new version of the Animus, which attaches to the Assassin and allows him/her to "reenact" the memories they're reliving, thereby "training" them as they do so. The sequence is in rough cut form, with much of it unfinished and with shots that still need digital work.

Abstergo’s complex is hidden inside an old church in Spain, so the Abstergo set has exposed walls that make it look like it’s built within an old Spanish church.
Fassbender’s character, Callum Lynch, was on death row for murder in Texas, but his execution was faked and he was whisked away to Spain.
There are 30-40 other patients at Abstergo, and all of the main patients that Callum interacts with have ancestors from a time period in a previous Assassin’s Creed game.
Callum travels back via the Animus more than twice during the movie.
Marion Cotillard’s character is Sofia Rikken, who is running the Abstergo prison, trying to identify where violence begins and create treatments that eradicate violence in society. Jeremy Irons plays her father, who is the head of Abstergo and may or may not have more sinister motives.
Callum sees Rikken as the Warden of the Abstergo facility.
Production took place on the 007 stage at Pinewood Studios in London, which housed the Abstergo set.
The Abstergo set was built so that as much of it as possible was connected for real, from the corridors to the recreation area to the individual cells, so that cinematographer Adam Arkapaw could shoot a lot of long, unbroken takes without a lot of cutting.
They shot a recreation of the Spanish Inquisition. Fassbender is the only present day actor who appears in the past sequences in the film.
The film is roughly 65% present day sequences, 35% regression sequences.
The ancestor of Michael K. Williams’ character is based in voodoo and trickery, while Matias Varela’s ancestor is Yusef, a Middle Eastern assassin.
Some of the present day characters exhibit powers and extraordinary abilities.
The bleeding effect is in the film as Cal sees a vision of his ancestor who teaches him fight moves.
Eagle Vision is also an important part of the film.
For the scenes on location in Malta, they had up to 900 extras in 15th century clothes.
They changed the design of the Animus to make it more interactive for the actors, and Ubisoft liked it so much they may incorporate it into a future game.
British freerunner Damien Walters served as Michael Fassbender’s stunt double for freerunning sequences. Sadly, there will be no scene of Fassbender jumping into a wheelbarrel of hay.
They made 3,000 weapon props. Getting the wristblades to work for real while also looking pretty was really tough for the team, but they pulled it off. They treated the weapons like Easter Eggs, so weapons taken straight out of the games are scattered throughout the films.
Connor Kenway’s bow from Assassin’s Creed III makes an appearance. Ubisoft gave the prop makers a Bible of every weapon ever made for the games that they could use as a guide. Even though the game wasn’t out yet, Justin Kurzel wanted to include a weapon from Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate, so Ubisoft obliged.
Ubisoft didn’t make any specific requests with regards to which weapons needed to be included in the game. But they did request to keep some of the weapons after filming concluded.
The Assassins costumes took 2-3 months to make and were all hand-crafted. There are eight versions of each costume, with an entire costume team devoted to each of the Assassins.
The toughest costume to create was Aguilar’s, because it had to be designed first in order to set their version of the Assassin.
They wanted to differentiate the 15th century sequences from the present day sequences through color palettes, with the flashbacks taking on a more Earthy tone in contrast to the stark, sterile nature of present day.
The costume designers had to construct the hoods so that they would maintain their point even while the actors were running around, which is tougher than it sounds.
It took them 20-30 versions to create a hood that would look like the game and maintain its shape while the actor moved. Fassbender was attracted to the game because he wanted to do a fantasy film that was rooted in science, and also thought the idea of Templars vs. Assassins was intriguing.
Fassbender likens the themes of Assassin’s Creed to Star Wars in that there’s a dark side and a light side, and they’re both contradicting one another all the time.
Filming took place over the course of 80 days.
There was a strong emphasis on practical effects and doing as much in camera as possible, like having actors make a 30-meter leap for real.
Kurzel didn’t want the movie to feel like a superhero film, he wanted to embrace “what it is to be human” through practical effects and parkour-intensive stunts.
Production had to be completed by November 15th to make way for Star Wars: Episode VIII to take over the stage.

The highly anticipated debut trailer of the Assassin's Creed Movie is reportedly coming this Wednesday, according to LA Times article, here.
New details have been revealed about the movie and its sequels:
Michael Fassbender said "Callum doesn't belong to anything, doesn't have a family" which is different from Desmond Miles who was born an Assassin into an Assassin family and then ran away. Adding "We thought it would be interesting to have somebody that was disconnected be faced with what it means to join something so sacrificial."
They also revelead that movie budget is more than $150,000,000. And they confirmed that if the movie is a financial success, then sequels are already planned to be released and the movie will explore different eras, the same way the games do.
Fassbender also added that a trilogy has already been sketched out.
Two new screenshots have also been released, showing Michael Fassbender both as Callum Lynch and Aguilar, accompanied by Marion Cotilard and Ariane Labed's characters, respectively.

One of the most anticipated and mysterious films to come out this year is Justin Kurzel’s Assassin’s Creed. Video game films, so far, has been lackluster at best but Warcraft and Assassin’s Creed is poised to change that mentality this year. Judging by the Assassin’s Creed trailer Fassbender looks to fulfill his promise of delivering a film that has a “compelling story, rich characters, and breathtaking action sequences.” The trailer begins with Fassbender’s present-day character, Callum Lynch, waking up inside Abstergo Industries. Marion Cotillard’s character gets him up to speed by telling him that “his previous life is over. You were executed yesterday and now presumed dead. You no longer exist.”
We see Lynch walking through various parts of Abstergo before being forcefully put in the Animus by the security guards. Lynch is strapped with the assassin’s iconic hidden blades. We see a glimpse of Jeremy Iron’s character, Alan Rikkin, as Lynch wants to know what they want from him. Cotillard informs him that he has “memories of someone who has been dead for over 500 years.”
Take note that the Animus is vastly different than the tanning bed-looking devices from the video games. The cinematic version features a large mechanical arm that holds its user in place by their waist. This version also seems to move as Lynch does, allowing his body to go through the same jumps, flips, and other parkour moves as he experiences them in the Animus. It’s unclear why Abstergo/Templars need this information, but it’s interesting to see how it’ll play out.
Viewers are then whisked away to the 15th-century Spain where we get our first look at Lynch’s assassin/ancestor, Aguilar. 15th-century Spain looks and feels like it was ripped straight from the game, especially with the high camera pan overlooking the city.
From here on out, we get nothing but action scenes set to Kanye West’s “I Am A God.” The action scenes are a fantastic blend of 300 and The Raid. Slow-motion and visceral camera work mixed with fluid, brutal, and fast fight choreography. Of course, we also have various parkour scenes between Aguilar and Ariane Labed’s character, Maria. All of the action sequences are definitely breathtaking. Of course, the teaser trailer concludes with Aguilar doing the leap of faith from atop a high location.
Overall, the footage is quite visually astonishing. Kurzel has a keen eye for visuals, as seen in Macbeth, and it definitely shows in the trailer. There are some questions that gets raised from watching the trailer, but for a teaser trailer, it does its job in piquing the interests of Assassin’s Creed fans and non-fans alike. As for the trailer release, it’s rumored that the trailer will release in May.

Assassin's Creed Movie trailer has been revelaed at CinemaCon 2016. It will likely be made available online, shortly.
Some sources report that the trailer featured the following:
Fassbender, playing Aguilar, comes to in a white padded room as Cotillard catches him up to speed – his previous life as Callum Lynch is over, as that man was executed by lethal injection the evening prior.
Fassbender is now being groomed, for what it’s unclear, but conflict isn’t far behind on the gorgeous, soaring set pieces of the movie’s world — ripped almost exactly from the Sci-Fi meets Renaissance aesthetic of the game. Battle sequences, costumes and a fierce Kanye West track, "I Am A God", presumably a reference to the franchise's Ancient Astronauts Theory inspiration for the First Civilization race.

Darby McDevitt, Assassin's Creed Lead Writer once said that he had written 700 years of story about the first civilization, The Isu, which will be revealed gradually throughout the coming installments.
In response to my question, shown below, he confirmed that what he wrote includes information about their distant past, their live after the solar flare (Toba Catastrophe, circa. 75,000 BC), their social hierarchy, forms of government, wars, cultural movements..etc.
When I asked Darby if this story will be delivered through gameplay, cutscenes, notes, comics..etc. he responded with "Remains to be seen :) My preference would be a Dark Souls or Bloodborne style presentation - built into the world itself."

More about Assassin's Creed: Unity's protagonist, Arno Dorian to be revealed this year, according to this screencap from a conversation between a fan and an official Assassin's Creed account. CLICK HERE
Judging by the announced and ongoing projects this year that are related to Assassin's Creed, it is likely that either the movie or one of the comic books will somehow involve Arno Dorian. My personaly theory is that Arno could somehow be linked to Aguilar from the Assassin's Creed movie.
Other than that, it could be an encyclopedia book, or perhaps a new novel.

Today Ubisoft announced an Assassin's Creed-themed virtual reality experience, to be produced in partnership with Fox and visual effects house Practical Magic.
The experience was unveiled during AMD's GDC press conference. During the unveil, Matthew Lewis, president of Practical Magic VR and director of VR experiences, was clear to point out that the experience was "not a game." He did say that the VR experience was filmed alongside the movie and that shoot locations included Malta, Spain and the United Kingdom.
Not much is known about Practical Magic, other than the tagline on its website which calls out their services as providing "studio-grade" virtual reality. Only one employee is listed as working at Practical Magic on LinkedIn, visual effects supervisor Bud Myrick. His credits include work on X-Men 2, Serenity and Men in Black 2. "We're excited about the announcement of the Assassin's Creed VR Experience and we look forward to working with New Regency, Fox and Practical Magic to share more in the future," said Ubisoft spokesperson, Michael Beadle.

I have a tale to tell:
A tale of a man who once lost his way, running away from what once seemed like a fairytale to him. He ran from the Creed, ran to the city, to the maddening crowds, chasing what every man wants, a normal, comfortable life, to live for the day and enjoy the tiny little things. Things that we sleep at night, dreaming about, wondering if we'll get to keep them for another day. Things that we wake up, hoping this day will bare the promise of achieving them and keeping them forever.
But life doesn't always give us what we desire. Especially not in this world. Not one where the cross darkens the horizon. Not where greed and oppression is masked with capitalism and law. Not where we're poisoned every day with the idea that the limitations of life are facts we have to embrace, that the oppressive state of the world is a given, not an option.
Our world is a place where we're taught every day that whatever hurts us, oppresses us, limits us and slips our freedom is for our benefit, and whatever adventure there is, whatever change can be made, whatever pain or poverty that can be prevented, is prohibited.
A world that brainwashes us to believing that life as it is, as all there is, and the system and law we never voted for, or perhaps have voted to the lie of it, which we came to realize when it was too late, is a fact of life.
This world, is the world where this man lived.
The irony after he lost his way, he came to encounter the enemy he once thought to be nothing more than a boogeyman from fairytales, told to him by his parents.
Abstergo.
It is said that when you don't believe in God, you don't believe in the devil. But once you encounter the devil, then there must be a god. That's the irony.
The moment this man was abducted by his own devil, Abstergo, he came to realize the truth behind whatever he thought was a myth. That's when he found his way back to do something greater than himself.
Sometimes when we are unable to make our dreams come true, we fight to make sure someone else does. When we cannot protect ourself from harm, we seek to save someone else. That's what this man did.
This man found his way back to what he was always destined to do, to save the world as we know it. To fight against oppression and give us all a better world, and a task that we must fulfill, to fight for more than just our future, but our freedom.
This man is not just an ordinary person, but a hero. A hero who found his way back just in time to save the world. He is a man, a friend, a son and a father.
He is an Assassin.
Today, we celebrate not only his birthday, but his toil, his heroism, selflessness and determination. Long live, Desmond Miles.
“When you tell my story years from now.. please tell them the one about how I lost my way, and then I found it again, just in time to save the world. And end it there. That’ll keep everyone smiling.” - Desmond Miles

For six years (Assassin’s Creed II 2009 – Assassin’s Creed Syndicate 2015), Ubisoft has produced and released Assassin’s Creed on a yearly basis. What was once a fresh and innovative IP, full of creative possibilities, inevitably became stale under the weight of forced new installments.
Ultimately, the publisher buckled under the pressure of fans request and market trend alike, choosing not to release a new Assassin’s Creed mainline game this year.
Amidst a huge Polygon feature article on the future of Ubisoft, Game Director Benoit Lambert expanded on the topic:
“We want to take the time to develop a great game. Since the first Assassin’s Creed we have developed the knowledge on how to craft an open world game and we worked very hard to understand what it means and implies. This was challenging but thrilling.
Today, our development teams are eagerly looking towards the future as we have the ambition and desire to fully challenge ourselves about what it will be to actually play an open-world game in the years to come. We want players to feel that their experience of playing Assassin’s Creed feels unique and meaningful. We actively participated in defining what playing an open world game actually means, but we are working hard to continue to push our technologies and ideas further."
That’s certainly the proposition we were all hoping for, though of course we’ll have to wait and see what the development team manages to achieve with this extra time. Chances are the next Assassin’s Creed will be set in Egypt, according to early rumors, and released in 2017; even so, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot confirmed the series may not necessarily go back to the annual cycle afterwards. Let’s hope so, as that would certainly translate into more time for the developers to create those unique and meaningful experiences cited by Benoit Lambert.

Total Film has revealed a new and exclusive screenshot from the Assassin's Creed movie, featuring Callum Lynch, the modern day Assassin.
“I wanted to take an audience on a fantasy ride, but give them something that fits some sort of scientific theory.” Fassbender explained. Present day will be as pivotal to the story as the historical story. “We have many devices that we’ve worked into the present that almost feel as though the history of the film is shadowing the present day,” says director Kurzel.

Not only will Fassbender return for the sequel as its star and producer, but a number of other key production partners will come back, The Tracking Board says.
"That the studio is already laying the groundwork for the sequel is hardly surprising, given the international appeal of both the game and its star, Fassbender," the site reported. "But skeptics of video game-based films may interpret this move as a sign of confidence from those involved that, unlike previous attempts to bring popular video game properties to the big screen, Assassin’s Creed could not only work--but thrive."
