THE LORE IS THE CORE

My story goes way back to the very first Assassin's Creed game. And I'm lucky to have followed this franchise from the very first installment. At first, I wasn't very interested in buying the first Assassin's Creed game when it came out, simply because I wasn't much into historical settings in general in the various forms of art and entertainment, whether it's video games, movies or books. However, two friends of mine, along with my cousin have recommended the game. I only just got my PS3, and I only had two games and I wanted more, so they said "Assassin's Creed is a must get. It's historical, yes, but it has some sci-fi elements that you're gonna love". So that's how the story began.

That recommendation convinced me enough motivation to try it for myself. I played through the first parts of ACI and I was enjoying the game. But when I reached the part where Dr. Warren Vidic says "They are gifts, Mr. Miles, from Those Who Came Before", that's when I knew that this game is absolutely for me.

As a huge fan of conspiracy theories and ancient astronauts theories, the ideas presented in Assassin's Creed made me a die-hard fan in no time.

After that, one game after the other, from amazing protagonist to a skin-crawling villain, from Pieces of Eden to First Civilization members, Assassin's Creed became a major part of my life, a part that I cannot dismiss or spend one day without searching or reading or tweeting something about.

The lore, which consists of the modern day, the over-arching story, First Civilization story, the Pieces of Eden as well as Clay Kaczmareck's glyphs and puzzles, became the most important part of the franchise for me. The part that I get excited for the most and invest so much time reading about from the numerous sources, official and unofficial, be it the Wiki, the official books such as the novels, the comics, the Encyclopedia, AC:Initiates website and the things that the developers shed light on in interviews and livestreams.

When I joined the official Ubisoft forums, I was so excited to see many fans whom are very dedicated to the lore. People who care so much about the details in these games that the brilliant writers and developers carefully crafted and implemented into the story for us to discover and debate.

However, at some point, I started noticing that there are so many fans who claim that the lore wasn't important to them, anymore. That the majority cares more about historical toursim than story-telling. That was the turning point for me. The lore was the reason why I got into this franchise. It's the story and the details that made me change my mind about historical games, because the games weren't just about slaying enemies in stunning graphics and special effects and exploring breathtaking old cities.

To me, the games were about the rich database and the overarching story. So, seeing some fans say that they don't understand the lore, or feel surprise when I mention stuff like "Instruments of the First Will", and remembering how I struggled at first to understand everything, I wanted to do something. I wanted to make people know what Assassin's Creed is about and show them how important the lore is.

I wanted to show Ubisoft, the wonderful, brilliant group of geniuses behind this epic franchise that we care about the lore, that we care about the over-arching story, that we care about First Civilization-related progress and that we need to see some significant progress with each new game.

I wanted to show the fans the importance of it and how the lore is the reason why this franchise is the most distinguished and original among so many others, and how the way it tells stories is what put it above any other franchise, and once they understand its importance, they will feel motivated to learn more about it and this will lead to a higher demand from the fanbase to know more, to see progress to every story, to see ever loose end tried up, and a conclusion to every unfinished story as well as seeing more cliffhangers and shocking revelations the same way the games used to be during Desmond's Saga and more specifically, Ezio's Saga.

That's why I created The Lore Pages Facebook fan page, followed by this website after its success and popularity among fans. My main goal was to teach, and make it easier for the fans to learn the lore by presenting theories and recaps about the rarely explored areas of Assassin's Creed and the unfinished stories, and after they learn, they will care which will make my voice louder and Ubisoft will hopefully hear us, fans of the lore, and keep expanding upon it in the same magnificent way they did with Desmond's Saga.

My journey throughout the world of Assassin's Creed was a long and a beautiful one and will hopefully last for a lifetime. I started this mission alone, but I got to know amazing people along the way. People who supported me. People with whom I talk for hours and hours discussing the story of Assassin's Creed in detail without even looking at the time we spend doing so. I am eternally grateful to these people for every moment we spent together and for every time they supported me and my work.

I am an Assassin and I will forever be. My support for this franchise is eternal and I will do everything in my power, as a fan, as an admirer and as a dedicated member of the community to see this franchise shine brighter than any star in the gaming world.
